Acceptable Use Policy
1. The one rule that matters
Quill exists to help you send a small number of thoughtful, genuinely personalized emails to researchers whose work you actually care about. It is not a bulk email tool, and using it like one gets your account terminated.
2. You must not use Quill to
- send unsolicited bulk email, or substantively identical messages to large numbers of recipients ("spam");
- contact a recipient again after they have asked you not to;
- misrepresent who you are: your name, age, school, grades, publications, or accomplishments;
- impersonate another person or organization, or spoof sender identity;
- harass, threaten, or demean any recipient, or send unlawful, defamatory, or discriminatory content;
- send commercial solicitations, advertising, phishing, or link-baiting of any kind;
- harvest or scrape researcher contact information for use outside the Service;
- violate any law that applies to your email, including the CAN-SPAM Act and equivalent laws in the recipient's jurisdiction;
- attempt to bypass credit limits, rate limits, or access controls, or probe the Service for vulnerabilities except as described in our Security page.
3. Email responsibility
Every email drafted with Quill is sent by you, from your own email account, under your own name. You are the sender under law. Quill infers some recipient addresses from public academic formats and flags them as guesses; verify before sending. Review every AI-assisted draft before it leaves your outbox.
4. Fair use of AI credits
Credits meter AI personalization. Pooling accounts, automating generation, or manipulating the meter is a violation. If you legitimately need more volume than Pro provides, email us; if your "need" is emailing 500 professors the same paragraph, see Section 1.
5. Enforcement
We may warn, throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate this policy, at our discretion, with or without notice. We may preserve and share information as required by law. Report abuse to hello@quill.ink.
